f for flamingo: a downstroke and crossing line
Colour the flamingo and listen to the air in its first sound. A separate crossing stroke completes the lowercase f model; tracing and a few attempts come before optional word copying.
FIVE WAYS TO TRY ONE LETTER
A fox sits beside a table fan at the end of this five-page pack. Before that scene, try the flamingo worksheet, a large f, letter finding or fan, fit and fox. The fit picture shows a block matching a hole; an adult explains the action, and word copying is optional.
One activity per page, in the order below. Choose the PDF for your A4 or US Letter paper. There is no cover or blank page.

Colour the flamingo and listen to the air in its first sound. A separate crossing stroke completes the lowercase f model; tracing and a few attempts come before optional word copying.

Curve into the tall downstroke of lowercase f, then lift to add its crossbar. A flamingo picture accompanies the large arrowed model and space for tracing and independent attempts.

Compare lowercase f with t and l while finding six f shapes. Look at the curved top and crossing line with an adult before circling or colouring your choices.

Say fan and fox, then use the matching shape picture to explain fit: the block fits its hole. Find the initial f with an adult; tracing or copying a whole word is optional.

Colour a fox sitting beside a table fan. An adult can name both pictures and say their first sound before a little f practice; copying fox or fan is optional.
Curve over the top and draw down the long stem. Lift the pencil before adding the short crossing line. The start dots and arrows separate these actions; follow them slowly with a finger before tracing.
Compare f with t and l on the finding page. Look for the curved top as well as the crossbar: t is crossed too, while l is a plain tall stroke. An adult can name each shape and help find six f letters.
Say fan and fox, then explain fit as a verb: the triangular block fits its matching hole. Point to the first f in each word while listening to the initial air sound. Colour the pictures or practise individual letters without requiring the child to read or copy the words.
For uppercase and lowercase together, try the Ff alphabet colouring and tracing sheet. These five activities focus on lowercase f, including fan, fit, fox. See printing and paper-size help when choosing a PDF.
Return to the letter practice shelf to choose another available activity. Follow the child’s interest and stop when they have had enough.
