FIVE WAYS TO TRY ONE LETTER

Lowercase z practice

Follow lowercase z across, diagonally back and across again. Compare s and n, then name zip, zoo and zigzag. The final picture places a zebra beside a zigzag path; an adult may read the longer word aloud.

Find both z letters in zigzag

Start at the top left and move across. Slant down towards the lower left, then go across the bottom. Follow all three arrows in order before tracing a smaller z.

The finding grid hides six straight z shapes among s and n. Compare the curved s and shouldered n, then point or circle without needing to say a letter sound independently.

Point to the first z in zip and zoo. In zigzag, mark the first z and the second z after zig. Its final g reaches below the line, so let an adult guide optional word tracing. Colour the zebra and its angular path without treating these longer words as all CVC.

For uppercase and lowercase together, try the Zz alphabet colouring and tracing sheet. These five activities focus on lowercase z, including zip, zoo, zigzag. See printing and paper-size help when choosing a PDF.

Return to the letter practice shelf to choose another available activity. Follow the child’s interest and stop when they have had enough.
