i for iguana: a short stroke and a dot
A simple iguana picture sits beside lowercase i models. Say the short first sound with an adult, trace the short stem and add its dot; writing the whole picture word is optional.
FIVE WAYS TO TRY ONE LETTER
Look inside pig, pin and tin to find lowercase i. These five pages pair that word play with an iguana worksheet, a large stem-and-dot movement, letter finding and a pig-by-a-tin scene. An adult can read the words aloud; copying is optional.
One activity per page, in the order below. Choose the PDF for your A4 or US Letter paper. There is no cover or blank page.

A simple iguana picture sits beside lowercase i models. Say the short first sound with an adult, trace the short stem and add its dot; writing the whole picture word is optional.

Follow a large lowercase i movement with an adult, then trace and try your own. Draw a short stem down to the line. Lift your pencil and add the dot above.

Look for lowercase i among j and l. An adult can name the letters and compare their shapes before tracing.

Name the pig, pin, tin pictures together and find i in each word. Tracing and copying are optional; an adult can read the words aloud.

Colour the pig by a tin scene and practise lowercase i. An adult can name the pictures; tracing or copying a whole word is optional.
Make the short downward stem first, lift the pencil, then add the separate dot above it. Let the child watch those two actions before tracing or making a few marks.
Both i and j have dots. The j in the finding activity reaches below the writing line, while i stops on it. Lowercase l is taller and has no dot.
Point to the middle letter in pig, pin and tin as you say each word. The pictures help an adult introduce the vocabulary; the child does not need to read the words independently. The final scene leaves room to colour the pig and tin.
For uppercase and lowercase together, try the Ii alphabet colouring and tracing sheet. These five activities focus on lowercase i, including pig, pin, tin. See printing and paper-size help when choosing a PDF.
Return to the letter practice shelf to choose another available activity. Follow the child’s interest and stop when they have had enough.
